ONCE UPON A TIME….

Samir, a fairly handsome boy in his graduation years, studying in a nice college had a great bunch of friends around him.
They were a group of 3, which included Samir, Vivek and Manpreet. They all had great fun from bunking exams to watching movies, from having the same crushes to roaming here and there on their bikes in search of nothing. In one of there college years, they had a 2 months break. They had all the fun they could possibly have and now it was time to decide what to do next.

Samir, the most decent of the lot suggested why not learn a foreign language for a change. As usual Vivek and Manpreet were not interested in his idea and they straightway rejected it.
But since Samir was the most sincere one, he somehow managed to convince the other two idiots.
They joined German classes in the city's most respected German institute, which was affiliated to the German embassy.

The first day at the class, all the three had big smiles on their faces. The reason being very obvious. The class of 20 comprised of 12-13 hot chicks and out of those 12, 7-were seriously very hot J.
They entered the classroom together and were very happy staring at each other. Samir had a sense of pride that he had made a great decision, what a class they had.
The girls who really got their attention where 3. One was Dolly (a Sikh girl who was very fair and had really beautiful eyes), Simrat (another Sikh girl who was very young and looked very innocent)
and Ramandeep Kaur(she was very different from all the others).

All the three were very beautiful but there was something about Ramandeep Kaur, which was strikingly different.
As soon as the class started, a young girl in her 20's came inside and as soon they could think of anything, she introduced herself as their mentor.

She taught German with the help of various activities that involved a lot of interaction with peers in the class.
The activities involved changing seats randomly so that you get to know the entire class.
Samir was the luckiest of the lot as within a few days he was able to interact with all 3 hot girls mentioned above.
While dolly was an easy chick. She seemed like the one with only beauty and no brains at all. Samir liked her since she was beautiful but then he was more of a sincere guy and intelligence was an important consideration for him.

Simrat was a cute schoolgirl who had just stepped into adolescence and looked like she had no idea of the world around her. She was also not aware of the mentality that guys have when they see beautiful girls like her.
Samir and Simrat kind of hit of well initially while Vivek and Manpreet were busy flirting out with Dolly.
Samir and Simrat used to continuously stare at each other during class hours. While Manpreet was very famous because of his typical Punjabi sense of humour. Imagine a sardar trying to learn German who is so much fascinated by
his mother tongue that often while uttering German dialogues, his Punjabi accent used to come in somewhere and the whole class including the mentor were in peels of laughter.
Vivek on the other hand was a different kind of person. The first thought that came to his mind whenever he saw a hot girl was of sleeping with her. These were the only fantasies he had.
But on the whole, all of them were nice guys and girls kind of liked them.

Now coming to our main protagonist, Ramandeep Kaur. As mentioned above, she was a different girl all together. During the first level of German classes, which was of 3 months, Ramandeep had no major interactions with any of the three guys.
There was just a hi and a hello and that was about it.
But this scenario changed when they entered the second level. After the first level was over, Simrat and Dolly opted out of the classes since Dolly was supposed to be getting married soon.
Manpreet had his heart broken when he heard about Dolly’s marriage, so Manpreet also opted out after the first level. Simrat had also left after the first level. Samir and Simrat exchanged numbers but neither of them ever called each other after that.
Vivek and Samir continued further and it was in the second level that Ramandeep and Samir met.
From day 1 when they first sat together in a German role-play they started flirting with each other. Both liked each other. Raman, a beauty with brains, a kind of girl who samir always wanted.
They used to sit together more often in forthcoming classes.
One day, while there was coffee break b/w the class and Raman and Samir were just chatting over some trivial stuff. Suddenly, some topic started and Raman told Samir that she was 24 years old.
Samir was taken a back, not only because he was just 20 but Raman never looked that old to anyone.

Nevertheless, days passed by and Samir started finding Raman more and more attractive. Raman also liked Samir's company a lot and they both hit it off well.
Then one day, Raman asked Samir to drop her home, as she had no convenience that day. Samir was happy as he had a beautiful girl asking him to give her a ride to her home.
Samir was pleased and like a perfect gentleman ensured that Raman has a comfortable ride sitting behind him. They reached Raman’s house in few minutes and were both staring and smiling at each other.
Raman asked samir to come in and meet her mom but Samir being a shy kind of a person refused gracefully and came back home.
Dropping Raman to her place became sort of a regular affair after then. Both enjoyed this part of the evening the most. Samir also visited her home once while there was nobody at her home except her dog, which kept on barking all the time.
These meetings were followed by meetings at the small cafe, located above the German classroom.
Till this moment they were just friends, none of them had thought of taking this relationship to the next level.
To samir, it never looked possible since she was already 24 and he was just 20. Just then one evening when they were sitting at the cafe and were having a usual chat, Raman told Samir that she was getting married next month.
Samir was surprised but not shocked as he knew that someday this was to happen. She then told him about the guy who lives in Banglore and has a nice well paying job.
Raman also told him that she actually likes Samir a lot and if it weren’t the age difference she would have definitely considered him. Samir felt bad but then there was not much he could have done about it.
They both came down to reach Raman’s car and this time Raman offered Samir a ride. They drove all over the city and reached a nice serene park where they had a nice cool walk.
They dint talk much that evening, just kept on walking. Silence said everything between them.
Just then, followed by another two meetings, the time came near for Raman’s marriage.
Just 2 days before her marriage, Raman gave a surprise visit to Samir's home. Samir was shocked as it was the first time that a girl had come to visit him at his home. He invited her in and to his good luck there was no one home that day.
He made her see his home and she really liked it. Just then as they were sitting in the drawing room, Samir wondered "why has she come here, isn’t she getting married 2 days later?” She might have come to give me an invitation".
She looked really beautiful that day in her white salwar kameez and a while dupatta adding to her grace.
She left in few minutes and to Samir’s surprise she dint invite him to her marriage.
Raman got married two days later and went to Banglore. Samir forgot everything and got busy in his studies.

2 Years Later:
Samir had completed his degree and had a nice job.
Raman had moved with his husband to Banglore. Manpreet had left India and flew to US for higher studies. Vivek and Samir usually met each other at weekends.
What about Raman and Samir?
They hadn’t stopped talking, e-mails and rare phone calls were always there but then with time they started vanishing.
There were times when Raman visited the city but dint bother asking Samir to meet. Samir also dint care much and was happy with his life.
Just then after several months passed by, Samir received a call from a strange number he hadn’t seen before while he was in his office. The call belonged to Raman telling Samir that she was in the city and wanted to meet him.
She said that she would pick him up from his office the usual way she used to pick him while they used to go to the German classes together.
Raman hadn’t changed even after 1.5 years of her marriage. She looked exactly the same, even more beautiful.
They went for a long drive that day. Talking of usual stuff and had a great evening together. They talked about how their life had changed in the two years.

Raman was about to leave for Banglore in two days. They again met the next day and went for a ride. They enjoyed each other's company even now. They joked about everything and even talked about how would it have been if Raman would have been
married to Samir.
Raman dropped Samir home and fled to Banglore next day. Samir as usual woke up next day and headed to his office to resume his work.

Subconscious mind v/s Programmed mind

I have been waiting to write something interesting from quite a long time now. Found a few nice topics which i initially thought deserved something to write on but then dint really interest me much.
Today on a lazy Sunday evening, a thought just passed my mind. The thought was about the sub conscious mind(the s-mind) and its counterpart i.ee the programmed mind(the p-mind).
There was a time in my life when i used to rely only on my instincts. I used to do whatever i like without caring about anything or anyone. There was no fear about anything and my mind and heart were very happy since i was doing what i liked to do.
But then one day i realised that my life has become in disciplined because of all this. I am only doing what i like to do but not what i am supposed to do. From that day, i again started following the rat race doing what i am supposed to do i.e. get some good grades in college, thinking 100 times before doing something and then doing it. No doubt i achieved success because of this but it came at a cost.
I didn't realise it at that moment but i realise it now, the cost was losing my spontaneity and not using my subconscious mind. The part of mind which i started using was the programmed one. It was like you plan something for future, follow the steps as it is to achieve what you have planned and then achieve it. I did achieve things following this approach but at the cost of my happiness. There was no element of surprise in me, life dint seem exciting. The mind was always busy evaluating what i did was right or wrong. Thinking if there is a way i could have improved on what i have already done. I don't say this thinking is wrong but what about the present moments which i lost because of this. I remember the times when i was sitting with the best of people i liked but then thinking about some other stuff while talking to them. I don't say i dint pay attention to them but yes i was also thinking about something else while talking to them.
I finally say today that yes i used the programmed part of my mind which did whatever it was taught to do. I told it to work hard and it did. I told it to finish assignments by tomorrow and it did. It gave me success but it snatched away the creative or spontaneous part of me. Now, i feel stress while taking small small decisions in life. The reason is that now i take much more time to think because i am using my so called programmed mind and not the spontaneous one. Even after taking so much time and finally reaching a conclusion, the p-mind keeps on pondering if the decision i made was right or wrong. Then somehow it tries to convince me that yeah what u did was right. Thus stress is followed even after i take the decision.
So, where do i go from here. There is one part of my mind which keeps me happy, keeps me excited, allows me to enjoy each and every moment of my life. I am talking about my spontaneous mind here but it also has a cost attached. Since everything is spontaneous, thus there is least planning involved which may be dangerous at times. But that danger also looks exciting then.
Now i have decided something, i have decided to use my s-mind because the p-mind has no doubt given me success but at the cost of my happiness. Moreover, i somehow think that now at this stage of my life the s-part should also have become quite matured.
I hear people saying "Happiness follows success". I have one thing to say to those people that there is nothing above happiness. Money, fame, success all appear minuscule in front of it.
Live life happily, if u r successful also that is a bonus but even if you are only happy in life u have found the right combo going for you.
